For many students, quiet time is key for the learning process.

I found a lot of value to consider in this article – while I can appreciate the value of group work, it has felt to me that there is perhaps an overemphasis on it in education design. While the notion of learning styles is heavily poo-pooed now, it could well be worth considering an education design that addresses people’s preferred styles of interaction and need for quiet, reflective time to synthesise concepts.
